Reconstructed Oral station opens Its doors after large-scale modernization

The reconstruction of the Oral railway station has been completed in the West Kazakhstan region. The facility was modernized as part of the country's railway station modernization program, implemented on behalf of the Head of State.

The project was funded by JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" using its own resources, with the support of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Ministry of Transport, JSC "Samruk-Kazyna," and the Akimat of the West Kazakhstan region.

The solemn opening ceremony was attended by the Minister of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan Nurlan Sauranbayev, as well as the leadership of the West Kazakhstan region Akimat and JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy."

 

During the reconstruction, a capital overhaul of the building was carried out alongside a rearrangement of internal premises. A concourse was constructed to ensure a safe passage to the passenger platforms, and escalators as well as an elevator for passengers with limited mobility were installed. The total area of the station complex increased from 5,778 to 6,346 square meters.

The building received a modern architectural look with the use of Kazakhstani-produced materials. The facade, roofing, engineering networks, ventilation and air conditioning systems, and lighting were all updated. Modern security systems were implemented, including video surveillance, fire and burglar alarms, access control, and a public address system, while X-ray baggage scanners and walk-through metal detectors were also installed.

The station is fully adapted for passengers with limited mobility. The building is equipped with ramps, elevators, tactile navigation, staff assistance call buttons, and information signs, including those in Braille.

The basement level features a luggage storage room, restrooms, a prayer room (namazkhana) for passengers and visitors, changing rooms, showers, break rooms for station staff, storage and technical areas, as well as a server room, switchboard room, heating unit, and pump room.

The first floor accommodates ticket offices, a medical station, a police office, and administrative offices. The second floor features a waiting area, a cafeteria, a minimarket, and a coworking zone. The third floor is equipped with long-stay rest rooms, facilities for passengers with limited mobility, a mother-and-child room, restrooms, and showers.

The concourse area is equipped with modern multi-seat benches, an information desk, ATMs, and vending machines. The ticket offices are outfitted with "Cashier–Client" intercom devices.

The average daily passenger traffic of the station stands at 1,822 people. Fourteen passenger trains pass through the station daily, providing connections to Astana, Almaty, Aktobe, Mangistau, Kostanay, Kokshetau, the Burabay resort, as well as cities in the Russian Federation.

The Oral railway station was originally built in 1984. Following its reconstruction, it fully complies with modern requirements for safety, accessibility, and passenger service quality, ensuring comfortable conditions for residents and guests of the region.

In the West Kazakhstan region, the modernization of all railway stations included in the state renewal program has been completed. Within the framework of the project, the stations of Oral, Kazakhstan, Chingirlau, and Semiglaviy Mar were reconstructed. The implementation of the program has allowed for the creation of a modern, safe, and comfortable passenger infrastructure that meets contemporary service standards and accessibility requirements.
