Thanks to the professionalism of locomotive crews, 30 traffic accidents at railway crossings have been prevented since the beginning of the year

02-07-2026

Since the beginning of 2026, 20 traffic accidents have been registered at Kazakhstan's level crossings, which is 6 cases fewer compared to the same period last year.

Out of the total number of accidents, 14 cases occurred on private railway sidings, which matches last year's level. Another 6 cases were recorded on main railway lines, compared to 12 cases during the same period in 2025.

The main cause of all accidents remains the violation of the Traffic Rules of the Republic of Kazakhstan by motorists, who ignore road signs and red traffic lights, driving onto railway crossings in front of an approaching train.

The highest number of accidents on private sidings was registered in the Akmola region (4 cases), followed by the Mangystau region (3 cases), the Atyrau and Almaty regions (2 cases each), and one case each in the Semey, Zhambyl, and Kostanay regions.

On main railway lines, two traffic accidents occurred in each of the Karaganda and Semey regions, and one case each in the Almaty and Kostanay regions.

Alongside the reduction in the number of accidents, work to prevent emergency situations continues. Thanks to the timely actions and professionalism of locomotive crews, 30 traffic accidents at level crossings were prevented during the reporting period. The highest number of prevented accidents was recorded in the Zhambyl region (13 cases), followed by the Akmola region (5 cases), the Karaganda, Pavlodar, and Kostanay regions (3 cases each), the Shymkent region (2 cases), and the Kyzylorda region (1 case).

NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy JSC urges drivers to strictly obey traffic rules when traversing level crossings. Emergency braking cannot stop a train instantly; therefore, violating the rules can lead to severe consequences.

Safety at level crossings depends on the discipline and responsibility of every road user.
