Safe railway crossing" national campaign held in Shymkent under "Law and Order" concept

As part of the concept to promote the ideology of law and order in society, announced by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the republican preventive campaign 'Safe Crossing'  was held in Shymkent. The initiative aimed to prevent traffic accidents and enhance the safety culture at railway crossings.

The event was organized by the Shymkent Mainline Network Branch. The campaign brought together railway workers, transport police officers, the transport control inspection, and the Abay District Akimat (municipal administration).

The event took place at the 3265 km railway crossing on the Shymkent–Arys section, between the Igilik and Badam stations. This crossing is one of the busiest in the region, handling 35 pairs of freight trains, 12 pairs of passenger trains, and approximately 7,000 railcars daily. City transit buses routinely use the crossing, which also experiences heavy automobile traffic connecting to settlements in the Abay District, the city of Arys, and the Ordabasy District of the Turkistan Region.

During the campaign, drivers were reminded of the rules for safely crossing railway tracks and the penalties for violations. Participants distributed informational leaflets and held preventive briefings with motorists. Safety briefings were conducted for 108 passenger car drivers and 33 truck drivers.

KTZ  reiterates that railway crossings are high-hazard zones. Drivers must strictly comply with road signs and traffic lights, never enter a crossing on a stop signal, and refrain from crossing the tracks in front of an approaching train.

'Safe Crossing' preventive campaigns are held regularly across all regions of the country. Their objective is to reduce accident rates at railway crossings, increase the accountability of road users, and safeguard the lives and health of citizens
