Reconstruction of three railway stations completed in Akmola region

Reconstruction works have been completed at the Shortandy, Makinka, and Akkol railway stations in the Akmola region. The implementation of this project has enhanced the quality of passenger service, created comfortable waiting conditions, and ensured an accessible environment for all categories of citizens.

The railway station of the Shortandy station, originally built in 1964, has received a modern architectural appearance. Over the course of the reconstruction, the facade and roofing were updated, window structures were replaced, and interior premises and engineering networks were modernized. Contemporary ventilation and fire safety systems were installed in the building. For the convenience of passengers, tactile navigation, a dedicated waiting room for citizens with reduced mobility, and anti-vandal seating were provided. Resting areas and premises for station personnel were also equipped.

The Shortandy station belongs to Type II. The average daily passenger volume stands at approximately 67 commuters. A total of 14 passenger trains operate through the station, securing transportation links to major cities across the country, including Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Petropavl, Pavlodar, and Kyzylorda.

The railway station of the Makinka station, constructed in 1988, has also been fully updated. The project included the reconstruction of the facade and interior premises, the modernization of engineering infrastructure, and the installation of contemporary ventilation and fire alarm systems. To ensure a barrier-free environment, a ramp, tactile navigation, and a dedicated waiting room were equipped. Comfortable waiting and resting zones, as well as a cafeteria, were created for passengers.

 

 

The Makinka station belongs to Class III. The average daily passenger volume stands at approximately 300 commuters. A total of 14 passenger trains operate through the station, connecting it to Astana, Almaty, Kokshetau, Kostanay, Petropavl, and Kyzylorda.

A comprehensive reconstruction has also been carried out at the railway station of the Akkol station. Over the course of the works, the facade, roofing, interior premises, and engineering networks were updated, and modern windows, stained-glass glazing, ventilation, and fire safety systems were installed. The station is equipped with elements of a barrier-free environment, including a ramp, tactile navigation, and a dedicated waiting room for passengers with reduced mobility. Anti-vandal seating was also installed, and resting zones were equipped.

The railway station of the Akkol station, constructed in 1989, belongs to Class III. The average daily passenger volume is approximately 190 people. Fourteen passenger trains transit through the station, securing transportation links to major cities across the country, including Petropavl, Kyzylorda, Kokshetau, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Almaty, and Astana.

As a result of the project's implementation, the railway stations of the Akmola region have been brought into compliance with modern requirements for safety, energy efficiency, and comfort. The updated facilities will provide higher-quality passenger service and create favorable conditions for both residents of the region and transit passengers.

The reconstruction of these facilities is funded entirely through KTZ's own resources. Concurrently, the national carrier is implementing a number of large-scale infrastructure projects, including the construction of new railway lines, the modernization of the existing network, the renewal of the carriage and locomotive fleets, as well as the integration of modern digital technologies.
