Reconstruction of railway stations and passenger infrastructure completed in Karaganda region

As part of the modernization of the railway infrastructure in the Karaganda region, reconstruction works have been completed at the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya (odd), Zhana-Karaganda, and Nura stations. Additionally, landscaping and upgrades have been finalized for the passenger platforms at the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya (even) and Aisa stations.

At the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya (odd) station, originally built in 1965, the one-story station building has been completely reconstructed. The facade, interior premises, engineering networks, roofing, passenger platform, and surrounding area were updated, and new furniture and equipment were installed. To ensure accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility, two lifts were installed, and new emergency exits were equipped in compliance with fire safety regulations. Kazakhstani-produced building materials were used during the reconstruction.

The Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya station serves an average of approximately 100 passengers per day. A total of 41 passenger trains operate through the station, securing connections to Astana, Almaty, Pavlodar, Kostanay, Petropavl, Jezkazgan, Semey, Shymkent, and Kyzylorda, as well as to the Kyrgyz Republic and the Russian Federation.

At the Karaganda-Sortirovochnaya (even) station, the passenger platform has been fully upgraded and landscaped. Pedestrian walkways were resurfaced, and fencing, benches, waste bins, and modern landscaping elements were installed. Additionally, park lighting was mounted, significantly enhancing passenger safety and comfort.

The reconstruction of the Zhana-Karaganda station building, originally constructed in 1983, has also been completed. Over the course of the project, the facade, interior premises, engineering infrastructure, roofing, passenger platform, and adjacent grounds were updated. New furniture and equipment were installed, and fire safety compliance measures were implemented. Domestically produced materials were utilized throughout the reconstruction process.

The station handles an average daily volume of 54 passengers. A total of 9 passenger trains operate through the station, securing transportation links to Astana and Karaganda.

At the Nura station building, built in 1971, the facade, interior premises, and engineering networks were renovated, the surrounding grounds were landscaped, and the passenger platform was repaired. Contemporary furniture and equipment were also installed. To ensure accessibility for passengers with reduced mobility, a lift was equipped. Modern, durable construction materials were used during the execution of the works.

The Nura station serves an average of 38 passengers per day. Six passenger trains transit through the station, providing connections to Astana, Karaganda, and Kostanay.

Furthermore, the upgrade and landscaping of the platform at the Aisa station have been finalized. The installation of fencing, benches, waste bins, and a passenger shelter has created more comfortable conditions for passengers waiting and boarding.

The reconstruction of these facilities is funded entirely through KTZ's own resources. The implementation of these projects has enhanced the quality of passenger service, ensured a modern level of safety and accessibility for railway infrastructure facilities, and created comfortable conditions for both residents and guests of the Karaganda region.
