Over 184 million tons of cargo transported via KTZ network in seven months of 2026

From January to July 2026, the volume of cargo transportation on the network of JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy (KTZ) amounted to 184.4 million tons, showing a 3.2% increase compared to the same period last year. Within this total, domestic shipments reached 97.2 million tons, while export volumes grew by 6.5% year-on-year to 53.4 million tons.

During the reporting period, 60.4 million tons of coal were transported across the entire KTZ network, which is 3.5% higher than the figures for January–July 2025. Out of the total volume, 40.9 million tons were delivered to Kazakhstani consumers, exceeding last year's level by 3%. Coal exports reached 18,8 million tons, a growth of 3.1%.

Positive dynamics were also recorded in grain transportation. In the seven months of 2026, 8.1 million tons of grain were transported, up 10% compared to the same period last year. Grain exports grew by 10.4% to reach 6.3 million tons, while domestic grain shipments amounted to 1.8 million tons, exceeding last year's level by 8.6%. The volume of exported milling products totaled 1.3 million tons, an increase of 14%.

From January to July this year, the KTZ network handled 12.5 million tons of non-ferrous ore and 11.3 million tons of construction materials. Growth was recorded across several key cargo categories: iron ore transport reached 13.8 million tons (+16.6%), petroleum products totaled 15.2 million tons (+1.5%), crude oil reached 1.2 million tons (+3%), and other cargoes amounted to 36.9 million tons (+4.2%).
