Over 130 million tons of freight transported via KTZ network in five months of 2026

Following the results of January–May 2026, the volume of freight transportation on the network of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" amounted to 131 million tons, showing a 3% increase compared to the same period last year. Domestic transportation reached 68 million tons, while export transport volumes grew by 8.2% year-on-year to 38.2 million tons.

During the reporting period, 43.3 million tons of coal were transported across the entire KTZ network, which is 3% higher than the figures for January–May 2025. Out of the total volume, 29.8 million tons were delivered to Kazakhstani consumers, exceeding last year's level by 2%. Coal exports amounted to 13 million tons, marking a 7% growth.

Positive dynamics were recorded in grain transportation. In the first five months of 2026, 6.3 million tons of grain were transported, up 11% compared to the same period last year. Grain exports rose by 11%, reaching 4.9 million tons. The volume of milled products transported for export totaled 1 million tons, an 18% increase.

From January to May of this year, the KTZ network handled 8.6 million tons of non-ferrous ore and 7.1 million tons of construction materials.

Growth was registered across several key cargo categories: 12.1 million tons of petroleum cargo (+4.3%), 6.8 million tons of ferrous metals (+11.4%), and 9.5 million tons of iron ore (+13.3%).

The stable positive dynamics in freight transportation indicate a sustained high demand for rail transport services, ensuring reliable transport support for the country's economy and export deliveries of domestic products.
