In 2026, Kazakhstan plans to modernize nearly 3,000 km of the existing mainline infrastructure. As of May 14, one-third of the planned volume has already been completed, with the total length of modernized network sections reaching 1,003 km.
The modernization of specific railway sections has been completed on the strategically important Altynkol – Zhetygen and Sekseul – Kyzylzhar routes, which serve as a key link in the international transport corridor on the border with China.
Additionally, the first phase of the modernization of the Aksu – Zhana-Semey railway section (129 km) has been implemented.
The work is being carried out according to the scheduled timelines.
The implementation of these projects will increase the capacity of the railway network, improve the reliability and safety of transportation and strengthen Kazakhstan's transit potential along international transport routes.
