New road bridge opened to traffic in the city of Alatau

A new road overpass, constructed as part of the Almaty Station bypass railway line project, has officially opened to traffic in the city of Alatau.

The new overpass is built according to a 24×32×24 m span configuration, with a total length of 950 meters. The facility represents a vital element of the region's transport infrastructure, aimed at boosting transport connectivity, ensuring safe and uninterrupted traffic flow, and creating favorable conditions for the further socio-economic development of the city of Alatau.

The overpass connects the villages of Nura and Tuganbay with the city of Zhelygen, which are administratively part of the newly established city of Alatau. Designed to accommodate over 15,000 vehicles per day, the bridge ensures reliable transport links between the region's communities.

Prior to the commissioning of the facility, vehicular traffic had to cross the railway tracks at the Zhelygen station level crossing. During peak hours and periods of heavy train traffic, traffic jams extending up to 800 meters in both directions regularly formed on both sides, with motorists facing wait times of 30 to 40 minutes. This situation caused significant inconvenience to residents, reduced the capacity of the road network, and increased the load on the transport infrastructure.

The commissioning of the overpass has completely eliminated the single-level intersection of road and rail transport. Thanks to this, crossing the Zhelygen station area now takes just a few minutes. The new facility significantly enhances road safety, improves transport accessibility for local settlements, and ensures the unhindered passage of emergency services, public transport, and school buses, completely independent of train schedules.

The construction of the road bridge was implemented as part of the Almaty station bypass railway line project. The project aims to increase the capacity of the Almaty railway hub, optimize transport flows, and create conditions for the further development of the region's transport and logistics potential.

The implementation of the project is of great importance not only for the transport sector but also for the development of the new city of Alatau. Improving transport connectivity between settlements promotes business growth, increases the investment attractiveness of the area, develops entrepreneurship, and creates favorable conditions for the further development of urban infrastructure.
