Modernization of the Kyzylzhar-Saksaulskaya Section: Throughput Increased 2.5-Fold

23-02-2026

As part of the large-scale Railway Infrastructure Modernization Program, the next stage of implementing modern automation systems has been successfully completed: new digital equipment has been commissioned on the Kyzylzhar-Saksaulskaya section (712 km), covering 62 km of track between sidings No. 17 and No. 19.

The transition to a digital interval control system has allowed for a radical revision of operating principles, moving away from the outdated "one section per train" standard in favor of safe distance management. This has resulted in an increase in throughput from 8 to 20 pairs of freight trains per day.

The entire commissioning process was completed in record time – just 29 hours, 2.5 times faster than the originally planned 72-hour schedule.

Currently, seven similar projects are being implemented within the program, aiming to introduce advanced automatic block systems and comprehensively upgrade 3,000 km of railway tracks.

The implementation of this project significantly strengthens the country's economic framework, opening up new opportunities for the prompt delivery of goods and expanding national exports.

The increased throughput capacity of railways increases the attractiveness of Kazakhstan's transport corridors for international transit and enhances integration into global logistics chains.
