KTZ studied Spain's advanced experience in digital train control systems

KTZ representatives — Saken Rakhmetov, Managing Director for Infrastructure and Director of the JSC "NC "KTZ" branch "Mainline Network Directorate," and Zhanna Akzhanova, Managing Director for Digitalization of JSC "NC "KTZ" — along with representatives of JSC "Transtelecom," visited the cities of Madrid and Tres Cantos (Spain). There, they familiarized themselves with modern train control technologies and advanced European experience in railway automation.

As part of the visit, working meetings were held with representatives of ALSTOM and Siemens, leading developers of solutions in railway automation, telemechanics, and digital traffic control systems.

The main purpose of the trip was to study the implementation and operation experience of the European Rail Traffic Management System (ERTMS), modern microprocessor interlocking systems, dispatch control, and other innovative technologies aimed at improving the safety and efficiency of the transportation process.

During the visit, the Director for Infrastructure visited ALSTOM's ERTMS laboratory and examined the operation of the system's on-board devices at a Madrid depot, as well as the functioning of signaling and ERTMS equipment on the Fuencarral section.

Special attention was paid to the presentation of ERTMS technical solutions and discussions on the prospects of their application on Kazakhstan's railway network.

In the city of Tres Cantos, Siemens specialists briefed KTZ representatives on solutions in ERTMS, Westrace microprocessor interlocking, dispatch control, and modern train operation systems. They also learned about the operation of the testing center, modern transportation management centers, and technical solutions for equipping shunting yards.

During the visit, the operation of signaling and ERTMS equipment was demonstrated on the Atocha – Valencia section at the Albacete station of the Madrid Dispatch Control Center.

The gained experience will be utilized in projects for the development and modernization of the railway infrastructure, as well as the implementation of modern digital technologies across the network.
