KTZ strengthens train Operation safety culture and develops digital solutions

Based on the results of the first half of 2026, NC KTZ JSC continued its systematic work to improve train operation safety levels. The comprehensive set of measures implemented by the Traffic Safety Department resulted in a 5% reduction in traffic safety violations.

The company pays special attention to the prevention and deterrence of violations. Over the course of six months, more than 4,000 public meetings dedicated to safe behavior on railways were held, with over 93,000 people participating. Nearly 500 media appearances were organized, 3,000 preventative raids were conducted jointly with law enforcement agencies, and more than 1,000 warning signs were updated.

Internal control remains a key priority. The inspectorate apparatus conducted more than 5,000 audits of enterprises across all railway divisions, during which 5,000 restrictive measures were enforced.

Following 4 comprehensive inspections in the Shymkent, Almaty, Zhambyl, and Karaganda divisions, 126 recommendations were issued. Audits of the traffic safety management system were conducted in the Semey and Pavlodar divisions, resulting in recommendations for its improvement. Corrective action plans have been developed and are currently being implemented.

KTZ is consistently improving its regulatory framework. Proposals to update safety rules, technical operations, and traffic safety violation investigations have been submitted to the Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Proposals have also been sent to government agencies to strengthen administrative liability for violating railway crossing rules, trespassing across tracks in unauthorized places, and the uncontrolled grazing of livestock. The implementation of this systematic approach has led to a 31% reduction in violations related to regulatory and technical documentation.

The company is actively deploying modern digital tools. The rollout of the "Monthly Joint Station Inspection" automated system continues, and it is already operational at more than 190 stations across nine railway divisions. There are 1,700 registered users in the system, and 500 inspection reports have been generated. Thanks to digital control, the process of monitoring and eliminating non-conformities in infrastructure equipment has been streamlined.

In parallel, the "Traffic Safety Inspector" automated system is being modernized, and new digital solutions are under development. In the future, these projects will serve as the foundation for introducing artificial intelligence technologies that will allow for risk forecasting, the identification of potentially hazardous factors, and the taking of preventative measures.

Efforts to improve train operation safety levels, enhance production processes, and advance digitalization remain among the key areas of activity for NC KTZ JSC.
