23-06-2026
Within the framework of the international business conference "Strengthening Kazakhstan-EU Connectivity" in Brussels, the delegation of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy," led by the Chairman of the Management Board Talgat Aldybergenov, held a series of strategic negotiations with leading global companies. The agreements reached are aimed at developing the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, digitalizing logistics, and modernizing traction rolling stock.
DHL Global Forwarding: A Focus on Multimodal Services
At the meeting with the management of DHL Global Forwarding, the parties discussed long-term cooperation on the development of the Middle Corridor. The DHL container service between Turkey and China was cited as a successful example of utilizing the TITR. KTZ emphasized that the project demonstrates the high potential of the route for transportation between the PRC, Central Asia, Turkey, and Europe.
To enhance its transit potential, KTZ is building its own multimodal ecosystem, which includes expanding its maritime fleet. Special note was made of the KIF Warehouses border complex on the Chinese border, featuring two modern warehouses with a total area of 23,000 square meters. Following the negotiations, the parties confirmed their intention to combine KTZ's infrastructure and DHL's global expertise to create end-to-end multimodal services.
A.P. Moller - Maersk: A New Cooperation Agreement
The main outcome of the meeting with A.P. Moller - Maersk was the signing of an agreement that brings the partnership to a new practical level. The parties already share a record of successful experience. As part of the development of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, JSC "KTZ Express" and A.P. Moller - Maersk jointly carry out container shipping for export and import traffic. According to the signed agreement, Maersk is developing its own maritime services in the Black Sea, which, in synergy with KTZ's land infrastructure, ensures the creation of end-to-end multimodal solutions and increases the speed of cargo delivery between Asia and Europe.
Knowledge exchange and staff training were also identified as promising areas for future cooperation. The agreement is designed to combine Maersk's maritime expertise and KTZ's transit and infrastructure potential to create new Eurasian logistics solutions.
CER: A Course Toward Digitalization and Standardization
Joint steps to increase the efficiency of freight transportation between Asia and Europe were discussed with Alberto Mazzola, Executive Director of the Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies (CER). KTZ is consistently modernizing its rolling stock, expanding infrastructure, and implementing IT solutions to increase cargo traffic along the TITR.
CER was noted as a key platform for integration, knowledge exchange, and standardization with European railways. The digitalization of the transportation process, including the creation of a seamless data exchange environment and increasing the transparency of logistics chains, was named the central vector of the partnership. The parties expressed mutual interest in deepening the dialogue on sustainable development and the digital transformation of the industry.
DB Cargo Eurasia: Modernizing China–Europe Infrastructure
During negotiations with DB Cargo Eurasia GmbH, the parties reviewed the results of their operations on the China–Europe route and outlined steps for developing freight transportation along the TITR. KTZ presented its large-scale infrastructure projects: second tracks have been commissioned on the Dostyk–Moyinty section, and the modernization of the Altynkol–Zhetygen line is ongoing to relieve congestion at the Altynkol–Khorgos border crossing.
KTZ is actively increasing its fleet of fitting platforms to accommodate the growing cargo traffic between the PRC, the EU, and the PRC, while also enhancing terminal handling capacities.
According to the parties, this modernization will elevate the reliability and speed of transit between China and Europe to a qualitative new level.
