KTZ received another batch of new locomotives in June

In June 2026, the fleet of JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (KTZ) was replenished with another 50 modern locomotives manufactured by Alstom and CRRC. The largest number of locomotives was delivered to the Kandyagash and Zhem depots, receiving 17 units each. An additional 9 locomotives were sent to the Aktogay depot, 6 to the Astana depot, and 1 to the Balkhash depot.

In total, 134 units of new traction rolling stock have been received since the beginning of 2026. These include Wabtec and CRRC mainline diesel locomotives, Alstom electric locomotives, as well as CRRC shunting diesel locomotives. The new locomotives are operated in the locomotive depots of Astana, Kyzylorda, Karaganda, Atyrau, Mangistau, Pavlodar, Makat, Ekibastuz, Zhem, Kandyagash, Aktogay, and Balkhash.

The phased renewal of the locomotive fleet is part of KTZ's comprehensive modernization program. The new equipment helps improve the reliability of the transportation process, train traffic safety, and the operational efficiency of the traction rolling stock.

Special attention is paid to creating comfortable working conditions for locomotive crews. The cabs are equipped with modern climate control systems, refrigerators, food heating devices, ergonomic driver seats, and storage spaces for personal belongings.

The design of the new locomotives incorporates advanced technical solutions aimed at reducing operating costs and simplifying maintenance.
