04-06-2026
In May 2026, 14 new locomotives entered the network of JSC NC Kazakhstan Railways: Alstom electric locomotives and CRRC shunting diesel locomotives.
Of these, seven locomotives were sent to the Pavlodar locomotive depot, three to the Zhanaarka depot, and four to the Astana depot.
In total, since the beginning of the year, KTZ's locomotive fleet has been replenished with 86 units of traction rolling stock. These include Wabtec and CRRC mainline diesel locomotives, Alstom electric locomotives, as well as CRRC shunting diesel locomotives.
The new locomotives are operated in the locomotive depots of Astana, Kyzylorda, Karaganda, Atyrau, Mangistau, Pavlodar, Makat, Ekibastuz, Zhem, Zhanaarka, and Balkhash.
The renewal of the locomotive fleet contributes to increasing train movement safety, the reliability of the transportation process, and the efficiency of rolling stock operation.
In the new equipment, special attention is paid to the working conditions of locomotive crews. The cabs are equipped with climate control systems, refrigerators, food heating devices, storage spaces for personal belongings, and ergonomic driver's seats.
The shunting locomotives are equipped with LED lighting, an eight-camera video surveillance system, a video recorder, heated windows and mirrors, as well as two control panels, which enhances the safety and convenience of locomotive crews' work.
The design incorporates modern solutions that simplify maintenance: automatic adjustment of the brake rigging, simplified replacement of brake shoes, convenient access to sand hoppers, and an automatic wheel flange lubrication system that reduces wheel and rail wear.
The locomotives are equipped with advanced microprocessor control systems, the "Bort" onboard system, video monitoring tools, and digital radio communications.
