KTZ is forming its own maritime fleet: contracts signed for the construction of six vessels

30-04-2026

As part of implementing the instructions of the Head of State, JSC NC Kazakhstan Temir Zholy is starting to form its own maritime fleet to further develop the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR).

Its subsidiary, KTZ Express Shipping LLP, has signed contracts for the construction of six multipurpose dry cargo container ships. Agreements have been signed with Jiangsu Haizhongzhou Shipping Industry Co., Ltd. for the construction of four vessels and with the Baku Shipyard for the construction of two more.

The project's implementation aims to strengthen Kazakhstan's position on the TITR and establish a sustainable maritime component for the route.

The project includes the construction of river-sea class vessels with a deadweight of up to 9,900 tons and a capacity of up to 537 TEUs, adapted for operations in the Caspian and Black Sea regions. This will ensure the effective integration of the maritime link into a unified TITR logistics chain.

The vessels will be equipped with modern control and navigation systems in line with international requirements and environmental standards, including IMO and MARPOL regulations. Classification supervision will be provided by Bureau Veritas. This guarantees a high level of safety, reliability, and environmental friendliness for the vessels, expands their operational capabilities on international routes, and increases confidence among global shippers.
