KTZ develops cooperation with ALT University

20-08-2026

As part of its strategic cooperation with ALT University and dedicated training of qualified personnel for the railway industry, JSC "NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" (Trunk Network Directorate) continues the successful implementation of its joint engineering and geodetic internship program for students. This project not only helps future specialists reinforce their theoretical knowledge but also addresses the crucial task of supplying the main railway line with young professionals.

The program demonstrates steady qualitative and quantitative growth. In 2025, 36 ALT University students were involved in field engineering and geodetic works. The main outcome of their work was the real recognition of their skills: 10 internship graduates were officially employed in the line divisions of the Trunk Network Directorate immediately after completing their studies.

In 2026, this successful initiative reached its logical continuation. In the current season, 44 students are already gaining production experience, which is 8 people (or 22.2%) more than last year's figures.

The geography of practical training has expanded significantly. Today, future railway workers are assigned to the country's key railway stations and production sites. These include NJS-7 facilities (specifically, PCh-Aktogay and PCh-Almaty). In addition, the students are actively involved in large-scale surveying work for capital track repairs on the NJS-3, NJS-6, and NJS-10 sections. Such a wide territorial coverage allows students to immerse themselves in real production processes and gain work experience in a wide variety of operating conditions.

During the field engineering and geodetic works, the trainees work directly at the facilities of the active railway infrastructure. Under the guidance of experienced mentors, they perform complex geodetic measurements, master modern high-precision equipment, and learn to make responsible technical decisions.

The joint initiative of KTZ and ALT University proves its high efficiency. This is a classic example of a win-win format: the industry gets trained specialists familiar with the specifics of production, while students gain practical skills and a career kick-start.
