KTZ completed equipping over 92% of the TE33A diesel locomotive fleet with Trip Optimizer system
06-06-2026
KTZ continues the implementation of the Trip Optimizer smart train control system.
As of the end of May, 393 sets of the Trip Optimizer (TO) smart automated train control system have been installed on the KTZ network out of the 425 planned. Equipping the remaining locomotives is scheduled for completion by the end of July this year at the Aktobe, Makat, Sekseul, and Ayagoz service centers.
Trip Optimizer is a smart automated train control system that operates on a cruise control principle.
The system calculates the optimal train driving mode, taking into account the track profile, train weight, locomotive characteristics, active speed limits, and other operational parameters. This allows for increased fuel efficiency, ensures compliance with the established timetable, and provides additional support to locomotive crews during the train control process.
To date, 48 out of 65 planned locomotive operation sections utilizing the Trip Optimizer system have been put into commercial operation.
In parallel, work on the digitalization of railway infrastructure continues.
As part of the digital route map development, 9,675 km of track have been digitalized out of the planned 10,000 km.
