09-02-2026

Talgat Aldybergenov, Chairman of the Management Board of Kazakhstan Temir Zholy, held a working meeting with Kaido Zimmermann, Chairman of the Management Board and CEO of Estonian Railways.

During the talks, the parties discussed the current state and strategic prospects of bilateral cooperation in transport and logistics. The main focus was on integrating transport networks to optimize freight flows between Central Asia and Europe.

The positive dynamics in rail traffic volumes between Kazakhstan and Estonia over the past year were also highlighted. Volumes increased by 2.1 times to 382,400 tons (an increase of 197,400 tons compared to 2024), including exports of 313,700 tons (an increase of 2.6 times, or 192,900 tons) and imports of 29,700 tons (an increase of 30.2%, or 6,900 tons).

The parties noted the importance of exploiting the potential of shipments through Estonia as part of the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR). This route is becoming increasingly important for diversifying export routes to European markets.

During the meeting, the role of port infrastructure was highlighted: the active involvement of Estonian ports in logistics chains will significantly increase cargo volumes.

The parties emphasized that joint efforts to create effective transit schemes will provide favorable conditions for Kazakhstani exporters and international transit companies. "The participation of Estonian ports and the integration of their capacities into our transport corridors can ensure additional growth in cargo traffic and enhance the competitiveness of logistics solutions for all market participants," it was noted during the meeting.

Following the talks, the parties confirmed their commitment to further strengthening their partnership and thoroughly exploring new technological solutions to expedite cargo delivery.
