Development of partnership in transit and transport is a new growth point for national economies of Kazakhstan and Latvia

July 10, 2017, the head of JSC NC "Kazakhstan Temir Zholy" Kanat Alpysbaev took part and spoke at the international conference "Prospects of global transport communication. Eurasian potential".

The first Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan A. Mamin, the President of Latvia R.Vējonis, the Minister of Communications U. Augulis, and the President of the Latvian Railways E.Bērziņš attended the conference held within the framework of the National Day of Latvia.

Kanat Alpysbaev, the head of the JSC NC “Kazakhstan Temir Zholy”, who spoke at the forum, talked about the implementation of the state strategy for the development of transport and logistics infrastructure of Kazakhstan, which contributes to the formation of a new system of Trans-Eurasian routes.

New lines built in Kazakhstan allowed creating a railroad configuration optimizing domestic and international transportation in the directions of China-Europe, North-South and the Trans-Caspian route.

K. Alpysbaev noted the role of SEZ "Khorgos - Eastern Gates", a mainline network of modern logistic centers inside and outside of the country, Kazakhstan's Aktau and Kuryk ports in the Caspian Sea as the basis for the emerging Eurasian transport system.

Kazakhstan and Latvia have a positive experience of partnership in the transit and transport sphere. Since 2002, container trains Baltika Transit have run. In May-June of this year, two pilot trains from Germany to China via Latvia were launched.

In the first half of 2017, transit traffic through Kazakhstan and Latvia increased by 15%.

Kazakhstan is taking measures to improve the throughput of transit and multimodal infrastructure, as well as the elimination of all kinds of non-physical barriers to improve the competitiveness of routes, including the Baltic ports.

Noting the great potential of the transport and logistics complex in Latvia, K.Alpysbaev suggested that the Latvian side take an active part in the development of the SEZ "Khorgos - Eastern Gates", the formation of a multimodal port tariff policy, and the improvement of services to attract customers to transit routes through Kazakhstan and Latvia.

K.Alpysbaev noted in this connection great prospects for creating a new growth point for the national economies of the two countries.
