Marat Urazbekov

Born October 12, 1960 in Lenin's settlement of Aktobe region. In 1977 he graduated high school No. 25, after that served in the Soviet Army from 1978 to 1980.

In 1981 he enrolled to Almaty Institute of Railway Engineers and in 1986 graduated as a qualified engineer - electrician.

After graduation he worked as a foreman, senior foreman of the locomotive depot, in 1988 he was appointed a chief technology officer of Aris locomotive depot of Almaty railway. From 1990 to 1992 he worked as a senior consultant in Arys town Council. In 1992 he was appointed chief engineer of the Arys locomotive depot .

From 1993 to 1997 he worked as deputy head, the head of the division for plant and repair facilities development at the Department of Railway Transport of the Ministry of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 1997 - Deputy Director of the Department of railway transport. In 2003 he was appointed Director of that Department.

In 2000 he graduated from the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan with a degree in public and municipal administration.

From August 2003 to July 2006 worked as deputy chairman of the Railway Transport Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications. In July 2006 he was appointed Chairman of the Transport Committee of the Ministry of Transport and Communications.

From October 2008 till now works as the head of directorate for transport assets management in JSC “National Welfare Fund “SK”.

Elected Chairman of the Board of Directors of JSC “Aktobe International airport” and JSC “Atyrau International Airport”.

From January 2012 – the member of the JSC “NC “KTZ” Board of Directors.

Awards: in 1998 was awarded the “Honorary railwayman”, in 2001 and 2004 - letters of thanks from the President of Kazakhstan; in 2006 - “Eren enbegі ushіn” medal; in 2008 - the medal “Astanaga 10 zhyl”.

Fluent in Kazakh and Russian languages.

Married with two daughters and a son.
