On
February, 7th, 2010 in
Riga (Latvian
Republic), the working meeting of the
President of Joint-stock company "National company" "Kazakhstan temir zholy" A.Mamin and
the Chairman of the Board of "Latvian railways" U.Magonis concerning bilateral cooperation has
taken place.
The
parties have noticed that according to the reached agreements between
JSC "NC "KTZ"
and OJSC "Russian Railways" on granting of competitive transit
conditions the real prospects of increase in loading of ferroalloys,
grains,
oil products, ferrous metals scrap, fertilizers in the direction of
Latvian
ports have arisen. The forecast volumes of transit transportation will
make
more than 2
million tons in 2010 that higher than volumes of 2009 by 63 %. In
particular,
transportation of Kazakhstan's
grain during the current year is planned in volume of up to 700 thousand
tons;
transportation of ferroalloys, nonferrous metals in containers will
increase. The
choice of Riga port as a reloading point for
humanitarian cargoes for Afghanistan
will give positive impact to dynamics of transportations in the railway
communication - the Latvian Republic-Republic of Kazakhstan.
The
heads
of railway administrations expressed mutual interest in increase of
transit freight transportation and coordinated joint actions for
creation of
the competitive tariff conditions promoting increase of transportation
volume
between two countries.
